Hello and welcome to Talk915! My name is Lauren and I’m a native English speaker. My family history is of British decent. I studied a Bachelor of Arts degree in Media, Communication and Culture at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa. It also included English Literature, Poetry, Academic and Linguistic English modules.
Both my mother and sister are teachers, whom I’ve helped with classroom work, lesson plans and activities. I am happy to work with both children and adults. As well as studying a TEFL course, I also gained experience in conducting group and individual trainings within the corporate environment. My hobbies include travelling, art, sport, reading and nature. I have been fortunate enough to work in the USA, as well as experience other African countries, languages and cultures along my travels, including climbing Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania. These experiences have inspired my method of teaching.
I’m a kind, patient and hardworking tutor. I studied Xhosa, French and Afrikaans languages at university, therefore know what it feels like when trying to learn a new language and the difficulties that may arise when doing so. I am here to help you regarding English conversation, listening, reading comprehension, writing skills, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation. Don’t be afraid to make mistakes, as this is how you learn. Learning is fun! I want students to gain confidence in their English and to achieve their goals.
